Although it’s only a man on a horse, this iconic logo from the fashion designer Ralph Lauren represents the world’s highest grossing clothing label in the world, raking in 5.2 billion dollars annually. Not only is it a recognized symbol of these United States but without placing any words around this image, one immediately thinks success, hard work and a rare sense of ingenuity. Other companies are constantly adapting and updating their logos to fit with the times but the Polo man has remained a fixture of western culture, a fossil of society no longer around. While sitting in class, it’s easy to take in a lot of mixed messages from a wide range of sources but the little guy probably stitched into the left breast of the shirt remains the same, forever frozen in time. For these reasons and more it stands out and it most likely will remain this way for some time to come.
